Bluebird is a quite rare Dawncraft Sunseeker Mk2.

Dawncraft started building boats in 1957 at Kinver on the Staffs & Worcestershire canal. Ten years later they to Stourport Basin and in May 1969 introduced the new 27' Sunseeker which featured a larger rear cockpit aimed at fisherman and sunbathers The boat was described as “the Inland cruiser which actually ALLOWS you to sunbathe in the cockpit”. By the time Dawncraft ceased building in 1984 they had built 2864 boats.

For more on the history of Dawncraft see the excellent article by Alan Peacock.

We purchased Bluebird (then Called Jodina) in 2007 from Moons Bridge Marina on the Lancaster Canal where we spent our first season. In 2008 we moved to a towpath mooring at Hest Bank before moving to Carnforth Marina in 2009 until it closed in 2017. Bluebird now resides at Tewitfield Marina at the extreme northern end of the navigable canal.
